Navy
render invaluable services to the country both in times of War as well as
in Peace, defending the extensive Coastline of the country in times of
Aggression, safeguarding maritime interests such as off-shore Oil and Gas
Installations, Coastal Shipping and Fishery Rights and protecting vital
trade links. The Navy welcomes highly motivated patriots and well
disciplined young men to join as Officers. Navy
constitutes Five main branches i.e., Executive, Technical,
Electrical, Education and Law. Executive
Branch:
This
is the operational branch of Navy. They work and fight during the War from
Ships The Executive Branch execute, command, plans for various seas’
operations and other contingencies arising in the coastal territory.
They play vital role in the Navy by commanding a naval ship, alone,
according to its capabilities and limitations. These officers specialize
in Gunnery and Missiles, Navigation and direction, Torpedo and Anti Sub
Marine Warfare, Communication, Logistics Management, Hydrographs and Law
Officers.
Law Officers
deal with the legal needs of the Navy.
They advise on evidence in Court Martial and other Disciplinary
Actions and give Legal Advice to Naval Staff in various civil matters..
The entry is through four types of doors i.e., Cadet Entry
(NDA),
Graduate Entry, NCC Special Entry, and
Armament
Inspection Cadre. Technical
Branch:
The
Technical Officers of the Navy are responsible for keep up of Ships,
Submarines and Air Crafts abound with advanced technology/machinery for
steam, diesel, Gas turbines and ensure their serviceability and
preparedness at all times for war or any eventuality arising in their area
of responsibility. Electrical
Branch:
An
Electrical Officer deals with Computer based or Computer-aided and
incorporate the latest trends in Electronics and Microwave Engineering
relating to the Complex Weapon System, Missile System, Underwater Weapons,
Radars and Radio Communication Equipment. Education
Branch:
Education
Officers play a very major role in the total training of a Naval Officer/
Sailor to keep them abreast with the Modern Technology. They are
responsible for Scientific and Methodical instructions including
Theoretical aspects of Technical subjects of all branches of the Navy and
for Oceanography and Meteorology. Law
Officers:
Law
Officers deal with the legal needs of the Navy.
