Pharmacists
Job Description:
There are three main areas of work of a qualified
pharmacist, i.e. Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Industry, Research and Teaching. In
Hospitals pharmacists are in–charge of the procurement, stocking, preparation
and dispensing of medicines. They also advise the medical staff on the
selection and side effects of various drugs.
In industry they work for drug manufacturing and
pharmaceutical companies and are involved in the production and marketing of
medicines. On the marketing side the pharmacists are involved in the planning,
promoting and distribution of drugs. Most professional pharmacists are involved
in retailing drugs and as representatives of the pharmaceutical companies.
Pharmacists are also involved in conducting scientific
research in medical laboratories. They study the properties of various drugs
and medical compounds and do innovative research for finding better drug
formulas. Those with higher qualifications can also opt for teaching.

Opening:
Candidates with Diploma in Pharmacy can work in hospitals
and retail drug out–lets as well as Medical Sales Representatives. Those with
Graduate Degree in the subject, work as Analytical Chemists, Drug Inspectors,
Narcotic Inspectors and Probationary Officers in banks etc. The individuals,
with Post Graduate or higher qualification can work in Teaching or Research
Institutions or join pharmaceutical companies as Executives.
Remuneration:
Starting salary is Rs. 5,500 per month (excluding other
allowances)
