No doubt
that throughout the world, in this cyber age, all the societies and its
member are going through a tough competition. In India, however, due to
rapidly growing population, desire for higher standard of living and
sudden and intense exposure to western world of glamour, the pressure of
competition is much more today. People want too much and too rapidly.
Education is not the goal, it has just become the media to gain
materialistic aspects of the world. Unfortunately, even most parents
encourage their children in this direction i.e. somehow get power,
position and money through higher education. Still only a few find success
on this pursuit of life.
Remember,
we have crossed the mark of 100 crores and we are still growing very fast.
There are nearly 12,000 colleges in which about 5-6 % of the 17-23 years
of the school leavers who have access to higher education. The story does
not stop here. The graduates usually find that they do not have (gained)
sufficient and suitable skills to achieve a job in the market. Even the
technical degrees (e.g. medicine and engineering) from an average
university/institute does not make the situation easy for job aspirants.
So either such young people are underemployed and under paid, or they
still go for further qualifications and competitive examinations –
getting deeper in the web of job market. As a result of all such
situations and negative feedback from life circumstances the youth get
frustrated. It is not uncommon to suffer from high anxiety, nervous
break-down, depression, insomnia and such other psychogenic/psychosomatic
symptoms under such a gloomy state of affairs in the field of education
and job market.
